You only need a few minutes in Villa 11 before you realise why the owners of this house fell in love with Paraty back in the 1960s.
The villa has three suites and is located 10 minutes by boat from Paraty’s historic centre. It is surrounded by lush Atlantic rainforest and a magical garden, with an abundance of native trees and tropical flowers. There are two hiking trails within the property which take in the ruins of an imperial fort with its original canons and a 360 degree view of the bay of Paraty.
The villa’s landlord owns the well known Pousada do Sandi in Paraty’s historical centre. The internal décor is tasteful and stylish with floor to ceiling windows which show off the spectacular tropical rainforest and emerald green sea.
Should you wish to visit some of the many tropical islands in the area or gather mussels at the mussel farm in Pouso da Cajaiba, there are two speedboats available to hire.
If you wish to bring a group of friends to a stunning location in a beautiful house, we suggest combining Villa 11 and 14.
One side of the property has a overlooking the beautiful bay and the other side of the property has a gorgeous colonial style farmhouse with tasteful interiors boasting gorgeous Brazilian art and furniture.
Access to the villas can only be made by boat across the beautiful emerald green waters of Paraty´s bay. Once at this paradise location, we suggest you enjoy everything it has to offer, from lazy days on the beach to walks through the villa´s stunning tropical gardens (which boast the ruins of an Imperial Portuguese fort), as well as making use of the sauna. Pizza nights and barbecues in the outdoor eating area are a must.
Villa 14 is a mere 10 minutes by boat from Paraty’s historic centre. It is located on its own private beach and surrounded by lush Atlantic rainforest gardens with stunning views out to the bay of Paraty. Villa 18 is located near São Bento do Sapucaí and is 40 minutes from Campos do Jordão. It is the perfect place from which to enjoy a unique experience in the Brazilian mountains.
The design of this house resembles a converted barn which has been clad in steel and surrounded by glass. This special contemporary design was masterminded by Marcio Kogan. The interior décor has a myriad of homely details which makes this a very cosy retreat surrounded by green hills.
In addition, the house is set in a large magical garden, with buttercups, hydrangeas, bromeliads and other flowers typical of the region.
One of the things that makes villa 8 so special is its location in the mountains near Rio. However, what really makes this such a special place is its history, which dates back to 1850 when it was built as the Main house on a coffee plantation.
Recently, the singer Lenny Kravitz fell in love with the house. He was on a music tour of Brazil and instead of spending one night at the house he ended up spending six months there, subsequently buying it and then restoring it to its former glory.
There are a number of historical ruins in the garden and inside Lenny has used his love for design to create a contemporary look which is full of character. There are pieces of art and furniture which remind you of Brazilian architects Sergio Rodrigues and Oscar Niemeyer as well as rare pieces of furniture such as a chair which belonged to Andy Warhol and Ingmar Bergman´s piano.
Villa 8 has everything you need to immerse in nature while surrounded by total peace and quiet. A highlight of the property is its vegetable garden which provides fresh vegetables for the duration of your stay.
As Lenny Karvitz said in an interview to Architectural Digest; “it is a place from which to disconnect and re-think life”.
Villa 10 takes you back in time to Brazil’s 19th century colonial past. This grand mansion is located on a farm that was an important sugar and coffee plantation from the 1800s onwards. The estate also has the second most important historic sugar mill in Brazil. Today, the farm breeds Mangalarga Marchador horses.
Every detail of this house is impressive and it is one of the most extraordinary rural properties in Brazil. It has been impeccably renovated, both externally and internally, and tastefully decorated with period furniture, carpets, rare porcelain objects and other period pieces.
The attractions are many and follow the tranquil rhythm of farm life: a swimming pool and barbecue area for sunny days, as well as a living room with a fireplace for cozier moments. All this on a plot of land surrounded by greenery as far as the eye can see in the Rio de Janeiro region of Paty do Alferes
The beauty of Rio de Janeiro’s beaches is undeniable, but the more discerning locals know that the Serra Fluminense hides spots just as special. Perched above a scenic valley in Paraíba do Sul, Villa 11 is the perfect example.
This retreat is a true oasis designed to help you forget the rush of everyday life. Located in a large, private condominium with only a few houses, it offers complete privacy.
The villa’s contemporary architecture blends effortlessly into the lush natural surroundings, creating a calm, harmonious atmosphere from the moment you arrive. In addition to the main house, which includes a cosy TV room and fireplace, the property also features small cabins scattered throughout the green landscape.
Villa 11 is filled with thoughtful details that enhance your experience of the stunning setting — from long, sun-soaked lunches beneath an olive tree, to starlit dinners with artisanal pizzas cooked over a traditional fogo de chão (outdoor fire pit).
Spending a season in our villa 23 is a special experience, the kind that transports you to another time. Located in Sousas, near Campinas, the property is an old coffee farm that has undergone an impeccable restoration.
The historic mansion has been well maintained and full of charm, but the grounds, surrounded by greenery as far as the eye can see, have been given an annex with a large leisure area and various attractions where you can literally forget about the hectic life going on outside.
All this without counting the many ways to explore the magical scenery that frames the horizon, at a slow travel pace, as a season in nature demands.
